3D Blur v1.5 Update
Hi all!
I've just released the newest version of 3D Blur, which adds a couple exciting features!
The first is Adaptive Voxel Resolution. This allocates voxels depending on the dimensions of your model to maximize the starting resolution of the blur. On assets like weapons and characters you should see a 2x to 4x increase in resolution!
The next is Blur Masking. This works in-tandem with Adaptive Voxels and lets you limit where blur gets applied. This can prevent unwanted bleeding of details. And by masking small parts of your model, you can get extremely high resolution!
The biggest new feature is the ability to automatically create Soft Normals. This uses no bakes and is fully automatic, and should be able to vastly improve workflows for simple background assets where making a high poly would be too time consuming.
Now for some known issues -
Occasionally, voxels bordering the bounding box of the volume will not be blurred properly. Try doing slight adjustments to the Blur Mask to fix this.
Gaussian Blur can look odd, or be slightly offset from where it should be when using low radius values. Switch to box blur if this is a problem. This is being investigated!
Performance may be a bit slower due to Adaptive Voxels, more performance improvements will be coming in the future!
Thanks!
Ryann
